Adopting an adultWhat is the name of your state? New York State I am 48 and my boyfriend is 43. Can I legally adopt him? His mother is still alive. There is a financial arrangment related to my grandmother's will that would make this adoption fiscally useful for both of us. |

| You want the person you are either now sleeping with or will be sleeping with to become your legal child? As an adoptive parent, all I can say is ICK! Parents, adoptive or bio, should never be involved sexually with their "kids". Regardless of how old we are. No amount of money or financial arrangement negates the implications of that. Excuse me while I go wash my hands.

| So grandma's will has a provision that you get more money if you have a "child"? How much money are you talking about?

| The details regarding the benefit are in this post http://forum.freeadvice.com/showthread.php?p=615641#post615641 I agree - the ICK factor is huge. |

Ahhhhh....Read why you are wanting this. I agree with the ick of the above posts but you may have an alternative. I used to be a mortgage broker and it is possible to get a loan against a house with a irrevokable trust, they cost twice as much in fees, but interest rates are almost the same as a regular loan... However it is really hard to find a lender who will deal in these. Bank of America used to so try them first... if not get an experienced independant broker who's willing to do the research. I did a loan for someone in a similar situation but as I'm not a broker anymore I don't know who does them these days. ~Moonlithe PS.... I I did this loan like 3 years ago. The company I worked for had over 60 regular lenders we used and only 2 worked with this type of trust. If it's a simple trust more lenders will do it.
