adoption

What is the name of your state? Tennessee
Can anyone tell me the easiest and least expensive process to legally adopt? I have had temporary custody already for several years.

In any adoption, the first hurdle is terminating the parental rights of the mom & the dad. This can be done voluntarily which can be easy if the parents agree and there is someone (like you) willing to adopt.

If the parents won't agree, then you'd ask for a court-ordered termination.

You could go to the court house and ask for a "petition to adopt" and that will get the ball rolling. If you have legal custody or you are a foster parent, the court will consider how long you'd had the child and how much contact the parents have.

If the parents & court agree to the adoption, it can go quite easily. If the parents do not agree, then I'm afraid there's no way to do it cheaply.

Best of luck to you.
