When I married my wife 27 years ago she had a three week old daughter (Marci) by a married man who wanted nothing to do with either of them when he found out she was pregnant. To this day he has never desired contact with Marci who is now 27 years old, married and has two children. I would like to adopt her and make her my legal daughter and her children my legal grandchildren, primarily so they would have no inheritance difficulties in the event my wife should die before me. There would of course be no name change. She has consented to this and I would like to know how to proceed and if it is a difficult process. We both live in Missouri.
