i reside in nc. I have a son born out of wedlock to a lady in michigan. She has a gentleman who wants to adopt my son. if i concent and the adoption takes place, will i still be obligated to pay child support?

NO..adoption means full and total ownership of the child.

So you are off the hook. But you also agree to give up all your parental rights to ever see the child , so thats the trade off.

WHAT??? Ownership? WOW! I was adopted, I don't think that my parents considered having "ownership" over me. I have my own children, I don't consider having "ownership" over them either. I have ownership over my car, I can get rid of it if I want too, I can beat it with a ball bat and that's ok, it's mine. Children are a much different story!

What I think Mary is trying to say is that the gentleman will be legally responsible, emotionally as well as financially. The whole works. If this man were to split up with the mother of your child, he is still responsible. You would be giving up all rights to this child. Yes, including your responsibility of child support.
