Adoption laws, Anyone?

What is the name of your state (only U.S. law)? California... Searching for biological father. Crazy thing is, is that I was adopted (somewhere) in California when I was about 1, taking on 1st adoptive father's last name. 14 years or so later, due to re-marriage and divorce, I was adopted AGAIN, this time with a total name change, first, middle, last, to 2nd step-father. have tried tracking down through mother's maiden name, and no luck. How do I obtain records of 1st adoption?

You might not be able to do this at all. Is there a compelling reason you want to do this?
