adoption records

What is the name of your state? Vermont

I am about to go to court for hearings over the custody of my young son... I know that mom had placed her daughter for adoption 6 years ago (she was 18 at the time).. I don't know all of the circumstances that lead to her decision, but I really don't need to know.. What I do need to know is is there a way to document that this adoption did occur.. I don't care about names (other than mom's) being shown.. I just want the tip of the paper trail to show that this adoption occured,

I admire her for her actions of placing her daughter for adoption, but all in all I don't know why and things are too weird (read my posts on the child custody forum) for me to just let anything go..
