I am about to adopt my wifes children. Will They lose the SS benefits they receive from their biological fathers Military service?

I do not know 100% for certain.. but I would give a good guess at yes.. since they will not longer be his children.

Question
The adoption attorney said that they would retain their benefits because the bio father passed away a few years ago but I'm hearing conflicting stories. BTW, this will not affect my adopting the kids, just curious.
