What is the name of your state?MN
I wrote a previous thread regarding adopting my late cousin's adult son, Joe. He lives in SD and we live in MN. What procedures and forms are involved? Is it finalized in MN or SD? Thank you again. Also, there will be no name change involved.

Joe's parents both died by the time he was two. His mother's brother and sister in law raised him in an abusive home and kept him from our side of the family. Now we are reconnected and have become quite close. He has not had anyone he can call Dad and Mom or felt like he has been a part of a family, something he has wanted all his life. My wife, son and I consider Joe like a son and brother. All of us want to become a family of four including legally. We feel this solidifies it completely. Can anyone guide us as to the above questions?
