Adult Adoption

What is the name of your state?What is the name of your state? Texas

I want to know if I adopt my step kids when they turn 18, if the bio mom will still have to pay all her child support arrearages? (About 30K+ ) Thanks.

Generally, back child support is not discharged in an adoption case.

But, when you hire a lawyer for the adoption, ask the lawyer.

Adult Adoption

Thanks for the reply. I know for sure dad does not want to forgive it. Especially when it has been I who has provided for the kids when she wasn't. We have been a family for the last 10 years and I've raised them and provided for them unselfishly. So when the papers show my name as the mother this will not affect any future court proceeding if she ever wants to dispute her child support arrearages? Thanks.

When I adopt my (adult adoption) stepkids can we have the birth certificate changed to show me as the mother? Thanks.

Is it a hijack if someone already answered OP?

This is very cool information. I have disowned my mother this year, and my mother-in-law is my new "mommy".

If she were to adopt me, would my marriage then null and void?

It would be GREAT if I could ge my mother's name off my birth cert!
