Baby's SurnameWhat is the name of your state? Georgia I am unmarried. When my baby is born, which surname will legally be the childs: mine or the baby's fathers? |

| My parents weren't married and I was given Mom's name. But when they DID get married when I was 10mo old (still married happily to this day) they had to go through an actual adoption proceeding to get it changed back in 1981. My aunt is unmarried still (as are most of those welfare-sucking aunts of mine) and gave her sons their fathers' last names, and will have a hell of a time changing them. Give your child the name you think will be the last name he or she will have as an adult. Probably yours. Or pick something cool that you like. The good part about being the mom is YOU get the say!
