My friend had her child taken away by Child Protection and given to a relative for foster care first, and now adoption. The judge ordered an open adoption with minimum levels of contact, but the relatives are suddenly making this as difficult as possible.

In January the then-foster parents gave their notice and requested the child be taken away. My friend had a family of her own religion waiting in the wings, judge ordered the background check to be started prior to turning the child over. Within DAYS, the foster parents changed their minds, said they would keep the child (odd timing, that), and CP on their own stopped the background check until 3 DAYS before the trial so there would be no possibility of finishing in time for the trial.

At trial the judge started the official adoption process with the relatives, who as mentioned are now being difficult about visitation, phone calls, etc. She doesn't know who to tell or how to get the adoption stopped and the child turned over to the people she selected IN JANUARY while she still had the option of a transfer of legal custody.

The adoption is not final yet. Can this adoption be stopped?

No, your friend can't stop the adoption...She had her chance to straighten out whatever it was that she was doing....she didn't do that and she lost her children...She does not get to dictate how things go now.

Your friend, like every other American, has the right to appeal the courts decision. Tell her to take advantage...
