changing childs last nameWhat is the name of your state (only U.S. law)? South Dakota I was wondering what I need to do- I would like to change my 4 year olds last name - I have gotton married and would like to change his last name to my married name. He currently has my maiden name, the bio father did sign the birth certificate. Can I easily change his last name? |

| Given that, according to your other thread, paternity has been established: Dad will most certainly need to be served with your petition to change your child's name. Expect him to protest. Consider hyphenating your son's name.
