Question

Changing my son's last name.

What is the name of your state (only U.S. law)? SC

My son will be 5 years old in November. He does not know his biological father & no one wishes for him to. His bio-father does pay court ordered child support but, is not on the birth certificate & my son has my maiden name. E started school last week & my husband would like for him to have our last name. What needs to be done?

If there is no relationship between your son and his father wouldn't a step-parent adoption make more sense?

Ask the father if he would consider terminating his parental rights and your husband could adopt. Have an attorney help you...

Okay. TY. That should be no problem considering he's already told me he wanted to. I'm going to look into that now. TY again.
