Children Rights Reversing AdoptionHello. My name is Megan, and i live in the State of Florida of the Untied States. And I am 16 years old. Recently on Feburary 14, 2006 my step-father adopted me. I felt pressured to sign the paper approving the adoption by my mother. One day before the set court date, me and my mother and step-father got into a minor agrument, things heated up, and i said " If I go the the courthouse tommorrow, i will tell the judge i do not want this adoption"-and i meant it. The next day, my mother told me that the date for finalization go held back, therefore we had to wait another week, but she didn't tell me any exact dates. Me and my mother constantly fought about him adopting me, i did not want it at all, i wanted to keep my biological fathers name, and i expressed my feelings about it everyday. The following week, i met up with my brother at school, and he asked me if i knew that today my mom and step-dad were at court finalizing the adoption. i DID NOT know at all. i researched adoptions to find that i am suppsoed to be present at the finalization On May 14, [mothers day] me and my step-dad got into a fight, he grabbed my face, and i pushed him off. he repeatidl;y hit me, to the point i ran outside to call my sister, who was out of town, and she called the police. He pressed charges on me, and i did not press charges on him. After the fact, i got arrested, and i went to jail for 5 hours, my charges are being dropped currently in teen court, and i have been told by my mother that i am never welcome back in her home. I want this adoption to be reversed and i am unsure how to do it, as i am only 16 years old. If anybody knows what i can do, or how me and my grandmother can go about this reverse i would greatly appriciate it. thank you so very much. megan |

| FLmeganalise; This sounds like it could be really dangerous to you. Are you in a safe place now? I am on the board of directors for Missouri Court Reform. My mother and I are strong advocates for children's rights. We work with state representitives and senators to establish and change the laws in Missouri to benifit the children. We also advise on the federal level. We have good contacts in good places and would like to try to help you, your sister, and your grandmother with this dilema. There is a lot of critical information we would have to obtain to pass on to the appropriate authorities so that we can start the process. All cases involving children are time sensitive therefore we must act quickly to file the necessary motions to stop this and turn it around. I do not wish to discuss your information on the forum but feel free to e-mail me at: wer4chldrn@juno.com at you earliest convenience. Some people are born mean and cannot change, the law should'nt force you to risk your neck simply because you had no say in it. Lets throw your opinion in the recipe and kick it up a notch to draw attention. You should be heard. Waiting to hear from you soon. God Bless. |
