Consent to Step Parent Adoption

What is the name of your state? KS

What is the process in a step parent adoption when the "absent - bio parent" is willing to consent to the adoption? Can it be done without a lawyer? If so, where would one locate the paperwork to do so? Would there be any reason why the judge would NOT grant the adoption? Thanks in advance.

all states have different procedures for adoption. It MAY be possible to do it without out a lawyer but, your WISEST course of action is to ALWAYS consult a lawyer in your state first, who is familiar with step parental adoption. They will be able to steer you in the right direction.

this is something that if you screw it up on your own, it can have huge ramifications as to the legality of your adoption.
