Question

Establishing Child Support after Adoption

What is the name of your state? Colorado

Can a child support order be established against the relinquishing biological father, for the three years preceding the adoption of the child by the stepfather, after the adoption has been finalized?

You have never obtained a court order for child support? And want to wait until you've secured his TPRs so an adoption can occur and THEN file for retro CS?

Once the adoption occurs he is no longer legally the father so new responsibilities as the father cannot be placed upon him.

To Clarify , most CS orders DON"T go back but only to the filing date and if there's an adoption already done it's too late.

Red face

Thank you for the information. I don't really want or need bio father's money besides my daughter being raised in a loving and stable home with her family, from which she can not be removed if anything ever happened to me, is worth more than all the money in the world.
