Question

Father adoption of baby acros state line

What is the name of your state (only U.S. law)? The baby will be born in Florida I live in TN. I am not married to the mother and she does not want to keep the baby. I am however married and we have worked things out and want to bring the baby home with us and at some point my wife would consider a step parent adoption. Assuming the mother signs away her rights at the hospital can I simply sign the birth certificate and bring the baby home with me? Then do a step parent adoption in TN

YOu would need to get custody of the baby through court in order to officially have custody. That can be done with an agreed entry. That safeguards you in case mom changes her mind as technically she would have default custody.
