Giving up....

I cannot believe it has come to this point, but I am considering allowing my ex's husband adopt my son. Visitations have become so difficult because of the distance between my son and me. I live in OH and he lives in AL.

I have a simple question that has a little bit of a twist. I'm assuming that because my son and the step-parent live in AL the adoption would take place there. However, the state of OH has retained jurisdiction over custody of my son (this has been done through a court hearing in AL). Because of this, I am confused as to whether the adoption would be through OH or AL. Can anyone give me any advice on this?
