How do I change Birth Certifiacte?

What is the name of your state? Mississippi

My question is: How can I legally change my daughter's birth certificate. I had my daughter in 2001. The only name on it is mine...her real father is a butthole he wanted to sell her when she was born if she was his so Me and one of my guy friends told him it was my friends. She is almost 3 and the only person she knows as daddy is my husband. We got married in 2002. We had another daughter in March 2004. How can I legally change her birth certificate. NOone knows that my husband now isn't her real dad except my friend, parents and his. Can I just put his name on there? Just wondering thanks, AMY

If your husband wishes to accept the forever financial responsibilty for your daughter, fully understanding that he would be responsible for CS if you two ever divorced, husband can attempt to legally adopt your child. Biofather's legal paternity would need to be established AND the biofather would then need to be willing to relinquish any legal rights and allow the adoption.

You cannot just add whomever you choose to a birth certificate.

A summary of MS adoption law may be found here:

Mississippi Code Annotated Sections 93-17-1 to 93-17-223 (1998)
