i am trying to adopt my fiance's daughter.

my fiance and i am planning to get married shortly and i wish to adopt her daughter she has no problems with this but im worried that the natural father might not approve even though he signed over his parental rights to the mother. is his consent needed in this case? and how long does it usually take for it to be finished?
