Icwa

I am from Illinois and I am having a Foster child removed from my home due to the ICWA. Does anyone know if having already adopted a biological sibling of the child is grounds to dispute the ICWA.

Thank you.

Sorry. I'm on a bunch of adoption boards, and I don't recognize the acronym "ICWA". Please explain.

Indian Child Welfare Act.

I suppose it may depend on whether the biosib is a full sibling or not (i.e. if there is the same amount of native blood).

The child is being removed because I am not Native American and the Indian Tribe has been granted custody as allowed by the Indian Child Welfare Act.
