International adoption

What is the name of your state? NY
I know that this site focusses on US law, but I have a quick question. Once I have esablished legal guardianship/custody of a minor in an international country (Trinidad in this case) what exactly is the process of adoption? In Trini unless you reside there you cannot adopt, so my options there are obvious. Thank you for your assistance

Also, consult YOUR state dept of family and children's services. In our state, we also needed to meet THEIR requirements and submit a home study to them BEFORE we could obtain a VISA to bring our child to the US.
