What is the name of your state (only U.S. law)? Ohio

My son is four and his father is not on his birth certificate nor is he involved in his life at all. I was just wondering if I need his consent for my fiance to adopt him?

Yes. However it is going to be much more complicated than that.

I would recommend getting a consult with a local adoption attorney. You will need to hire one if you pursue this. An adoption is not a DIY project.

You can go through the adoption process AFTER you and your fiancee have been married and stay married for at least a year (and in some cases longer).
