Maryland Adult Adoption

Maryland

I have 4 children. Two from a first marriage, two from a second marriage. The birth father of the first two disappeared years ago. I regret not having my second husband adopt them at an earlier age, having his name. Now that we are getting older we're concerned with inheritance and would like to make the 2 adult children legally his. How do I go about adult adoption in Maryland? The adult children want to do this. Is there an easy way to do this? A simple document to file at the courts? Do I need a lawyer or is this something I can do myself?

Thanks,
Melissa

Contact an adoption attorney. It should be a fairly simple thing that would not be terribly costly.

However, there are other ways to deal with names and inheritances. Its a very simple matter for their names to be legally changed.....and a solid will takes care of any inheritance issues.
