My husband wishes to adopt my 5 year old daughterWhat is the name of your state? Illinois My husband wants to adopt my daughter. Her bio-father really has nothing to do with her. The last time she seen him was because his mother took her to see him. Other then that and some child support he has nothing to do with her. I just want to know what we need to do to get the adoption going. Her bio-father and I were never married and my husband has been in her life for a little over three years we have been married for 1 year. What should we do???? Her bio-father's brother is telling me that he is going to come and get her. He has not asked to take her just telling me and I am afriad that he will take off with her. HELP PLEASE!!! Thanks Angela Williams ![]() |

| besides which you have a number of other issues to take care of before you even begin thinking about adoption. I would start with establishment of paternity child custody termination of parental rights then, and only then, maybe adoption |
