name changeI have a complex situation. I have four legal names. I will use fake ones I am Jennifer Amy Jones Smith. For personal reasons, I would like to drop the Smith, and have jones be my last name. Does this require a legal name change, or can I just use this as my name like people use thier middle name as their first name. I cannot legally change my name currently, because I am in residence of Texas but living temporarily in Michigan. I do not want my ex-husbands name on my College Diploma. Help! ![]() |

| I don't know about legally changing your name. But, I graduated from college shortly after my divorce, and I, too, didn't want my ex's last name on my diploma. Shortly before graduation, I recieved a form from the college that requested what name I wanted. So, even though my legal name at the time was my ex's, my diploma has my maiden name. Call your school and ask them if you can choose the name on the diploma. This won't solve your legal name change problem, but it will solve the immediate problem. Good luck! |
