Need answers

What is the name of your state? What is the name of your state? ORegon
I need to know if it is legal to adopt a child if the birth mother did not sign the papers with her legal last name, she used the last name of her parent. the mother of the child was only 15 when the child was born. I need help.

How long ago did this happen? I believe that in Oregon the birthmother has a year to contest the adoption and then would have to say that she was under duress or a material fraud was commited. Accidently putting down the wrong name (especially if it was a name that she went by often but was just not her legal name) would not be enough to overturn it.

Lightbulb

thanks

State is Oregon

Thank you for your help. The Adoption was 18 years ago and the person was not told that she had 48 to 72 hours to contest the adoption and the attorney new that it was not her legal last name she was signing with and push the adoption through anyways. She would just like to know if that was legal because she is having problems with the adoptive parents.

I seriously doubt that anyone is going to overturn the adoption 18 years down the line. Besides, the "child" is now an adult and is free to associate - or not - with anyone of his/her choosing.
