Question

Paternity


What is the name of your state? Maine
I hope someone can help me.2 years ago I had a girlfriend she was from Canada and still lives there.We broke up about 20 months ago**************.she now contacted me and told me that she was pregnant by me and gave the child up for adoption 6 months ago.She informed me that my name was not on the birth certificate.Is there anything I can do?

It depends on what you want to do. First I would make sure she actually had a baby and the baby was adopted. To notify you after that amount of time sounds fishy.

What is it you are looking for if it is the truth, that you have a child you never knew of that was adopted?

You are dealing with 2 different countries here, so that makes anyone answering you difficult.

Since the woman and the child were in Canada at the time of the birth, the laws of Canada preside. Therefore, since this is a U.S. site, there isn't anyone here who can advise you.

If the incident HAD occurred in the U.S. then the answer would have been no. You have no recourse.
