Question about amended birth certificate

What is the name of your state (only U.S. law)? North Carolina

My birth certificate only has a county for the place of birth. Does that mean that I was unquestionably born in that county or is that just where the adoption took place?

I believe that is the place of birth. Our son's birth certificate was "amended" after the finalization - but it was the parent's name that changed, not the place of birth
