South Carolina Husband to adopt stepson

What is the name of your state? South Carolina


I'm just curious as to WHERE i start to get started in having my husband to adopt my son! we have been together for 8 1/2 yrs and hes been the only father to my son since he was newborn. My son is now 8 yrs old and maybe seen his biological father 5 times if that. I really want to have my husband adopt my son so that we can make this legal and he can have the same last name as his siblings and parents(step father and I)
Any advice is welcome and appericated...

Start with an adoption attorney.

Parents should remember three things: Love your kids more than you hate your ex (or soon to be ex) & when you have children the relationship with the other parent is until death parts you & how you treat your children determines what type of nursing home you end up in.

is the father willing to sign over his rights? if not, you will have to file for an involuntary termination and those are VERY hard, trust me
