step-adoption bio-dad deceased

What is the name of your state?What is the name of your state? CA

I have a son who is eight, I never married his bio-dad. It just didn't work out, I'm not here to bash anyones character. My sons Bio-dad died about a year and a half ago. I have recently married a wonderful man, he is great with my son. My son wants to be adopted by my husband. Do I have to go through court or a lot of "red tape" since my sons bio-dad is not alive;Or is it a little more simpler for me? How do we start the process?

Contact a family law attorney for a free or low-cost consultation. At a minimum he/she will help you understand the process and fill out the forms.

with the bio-father deceased, the process is much simplier.
