Step parent adoption--HELP ME GET THIS STRAIGHTENED OUT

My ex-husband and I got joint custody of our 4 kids, he abused the one child, butonly him, so I made him give his rights up to the two I had. He made me do the same. It has been three years, and his wife came to see me to get me to sign a new paper to relinquish my rights, cause the other one is 3 years old, and their attorney doesn't think it will go through. I said no, do I have any rights to these 2 children, since she never adopted them???? I love them dearly, and don't want this, I never did, but I did it to protect my other child. HELP ME PLEASE!!!!!!!!!!! What should I do now? I have contacted my lawyer, but can't see her for 2 more weeks, I am going to go crazy not knowing what to do until then. What should I do?
