Step Son Adoption

What is the name of your state (only U.S. law)? New Jersey

I got married last month. Me and my fiance (now husband) had been living together for 6 years. I have a 11 year old from previous marriage. I was married and divorced in Russia and the bio father of my son lives in Russia. Me and my son have been in USA for 6 years and now my new husband wants to legally adopt my son. My ex husband didnt have any contact with my son or myself for 7 years. My son doesnt remember him, and doesnt even know he exists. I have no idea where does my ex live, or how to get in touch with him. What is the process to have my current husband adopt my son? They have great relationships. Thank you.

We both are permanent residents and have green cards. We can apply for citizenship already (just need 1,5 K per person to do that)....

Exclamation

Anyone has any advice?

What should we do? Is it possible for my husband to adopt without consent of a bio father due to the bio father unavailability? Appreciate any advice!

Maybe, however it is not something that can be done without an attorney, and a stepparent adoption is even more expensive than hiring an attorney for immigration purposes.
