stepparent adoptionMy husband and I currently live in OK and are in the military. I want my husband to adopt my son. The natural father has had no contact with my son for the past eight years, so I don't see a problem. But my son was born in LA and that is where the natural father also resides. I want to do all the paper work myself but I don't know if I need to get the paper work from LA or OK. Which state do I do the adoption in? |

| I don't know about Oklahoma but Idaho's law requires that the adoption be filed in the state u reside in which in your case would be OK but in Idaho you must have lived in idaho for 6 months before u are considered a resident. In the past when I have had a simple legal question i have called an attorney and can usually get the answer over the phone in just a few minutes. Good luck, but i would say do it in Oklahoma! |
