Question

Stepparent adoption questions

What is the name of your state? California

My first born son is from a previous marriage and his natural father has not seen him in almost four years. He is now living with his ex girlfriend, her son, and their 1 yr old daughter. He ocasionally calls our son but usually it's to ask me to drop the child support claim (which he is currently only paying 46.00 a month) so he can support his new family. My husband wants to adopt my son, how can I go about starting that and still make it clear to my ex that he is still welcome to contact our son if he chooses to (my son is only 6 and still desires his dad in his life)?
