totally out of our elementWhat is the name of your state? Kansas we live in iowa. our son fathered a child in 11/04. the state of kansas removed the child from the home in early 05. we have been informed by the caseworkers that parental rights WILL be terminated at the trial, currently set for 7/29/05. the state was not aware of our existance untill recently. we contacted them as soon as we found out about all this. otherwise, they said they would have contacted us before placing the child in foster care. the biological mother's family refuse to have any contact at all with the mother or child. this will be the third child she has had removed from the home. not a pretty scenario at all. the parents asked us to intervene for the sake of the child, to keep her in the family, as opposed to going to "strangers". they pretty well know that their parental rights are going to be terminated. we are prepared to accept this challenge, with all it implies. our problem, is that we don't even know where to begin. we are proceeding with all the paperwork that has been supplied to us so far, and know we need council in kansas and probably iowa also. guidance is paramount for us at this point. all will be appreciated. |

| I think that at this point the most important thing you can do is get an attorney in Kansas to start.
