Uncontested step-parent adoptionWhat is the name of your state? IN Hi, my husband of 6 years would like to adopt my 15 yr old daughter. The biological father has given up custody, relinquished rights, and signed 'Consent to Adopt' paperwork prepared by my divorce attorney. Everything has already been filed through the courts. Question being, since this should be so simple, is an adoption attorney needed? If not, any suggestions on aquiring the necessary legal documents? |

| Yes you should have an attorney draw up the paper work to ensure that it is airtight and complies with the law. |

| I agree. Indiana also requires a home study be done so you want to make sure your T's are crossed and I's are dotted. What county are you in? It wouldn't have to be an attorney that specializes in adoption (although it would be better), just one that knows the ins and outs and can get the motion filed and make sure everything's done properly.
