| If he never took any steps to establish paternity and never registered in your state's Putative Father Registry (if you have one, as Indiana does), then the child can be adopted out from under him, without his permission.
If the child is in foster care and no petition to adopt has been filed yet, he might still have a chance.
But if he has failed to do those things mentioned above and the petition to adopt has been filed, then it can proceed without his blessing.
Furthermore, if the adoption has already gone through, he does not have any legal standing to enforce visitation.
If it is merely a foster care situation, he might be able to do that AFTER he establishes paternity.
If he's serious about this, he needs to consult with an attorney quickly.
If he doesn't care or doesn't act, then all might be lost (if it's not already). |
