Wan to adopt nieceWhat is the name of your state (only U.S. law)? VA My sister would like for me to adopt my niece. My sister lives in South Carolina and I live in Virginia. What are the steps I need to take to assist her with signing constent to terminate her rights? What steps do I need to take to proceed with the adoption. Basically what do I need to do to be able to adopt my niece. Or at least get custody and then later file for adoption. Thanks |

| The father in not in the picture. They have not communicated since my sister was pregnant. Last they spoke he said he didn't want any involvement with the baby. His name is not on the birth certificate and doesn't have his last name. She is not able to locate him. He moved from where he use to live and doesn't work at the same place. |
