What should I expect in court? (step-parent adoption)

What is the name of your state (only U.S. law)? Texas

I have my first hearing tomorrow in front of the judge assigned to my case. This is a pro se voluntary relinquishment of parental rights w/ step-parent adoption which will be attended by me and my husband. I have never been in front of a judge before, and though I am confident in the case itself, I am worried I may say something incorrect or put my foot in my mouth. What should I expect? Also, I have read that it will take a minimum of two hearings, one for a decision and one for finalization of paperwork. Can anyone tell me whether or not it is typical for a decision to be made by the court at the first hearing?

Thank you.

yes. he signed the relinquishment in front of a notary, which was then filed with the court along with the original petition to terminate and grant adoption. sorry for the late response. i was in a class.
