Alimony

What is the name of your state?FL
I have a friend who has been married for 16 years. His wife left him and moved to Ohio. When she left they sold the house and splilt the equity down the middle. She got to keep all the furnishings with the exception of the futon and some dishes. She kept her car and he kept his truck and motorcycle. She has always worked and is currently working a full-time job making $11 an hour. She wasn't able to qualify for a mortgage do to changing jobs so he got her a house for her and his two children to live in. He is paying her $1400 a month to include $900 child support and $500 alimony. He pays $75 a month into her mutual fund and $47 a month for her life insurance. She want's it to stay this way until he retires in 4 years and then the alimony will stop and she wants to start collecting half his retirement and then she will pay back all but $500. Does this seem logical and that a judge will rule? Does she collect his retirement even if he were to die? That is why she wants it this way.

What the hell is he paying her alimony for? Are you telling me he's doing it because he wants to or because a judge told him to?

Right now he is paying it b/c he is trying to do the right thing. I keep telling him that I don't think based on the circumstances he would be ordered to pay.

They are not divorced yet. They haven't even filed. They are trying to figure out an agreed settlemet as to keep it out of court and I am trying to make sure he doesn't screw himself by just agreeing to allllllll her demands.
