Alimony After Remariage

What is the name of your state? Florida

In as much as I never thought that it would happen to me, I was divorced almost two years ago after twenty plus years of marriage. My question is, should I decide to remarry, would my ex-wife be entitled to any monies earned by a new wife of mine? Or, is she only entitled to my individual earnings should she decide to ever take me back to court for additional support? Our children are grown and I only pay spousal support.

Your new wife would have no responsibility to help support your ex. HOWEVER, should you fall into arrears, any co-mingled assets could be seized. So it would be wise to keep your money separate.

Alimony after Remarriage

Thank you very much for your reply. I hope to never fall behind in payments. The arrangements are very fair and honestly, she deserves what she is receiving.

It's really me.

She asked for a reasonable amount. And she raised two children, three if you count me, took care of the home, cooked, washed, ironed, etc. for many years while I worked in the day and went to school at night. She sacraficed a lot and her time is as valuable as mine. I'm not happy about making the payments, but fair is fair.
