Alimony after Remarriage

What is the name of your state? Nevada

My ex recently got remarried. The court order from our divorce in October 2002 says "Defendent (that's me) shall pay Plaintiff, for and as spousal support, the amount of $700.00 per month for a period of three years, commencing October 11, 2002."

She told me that according to her lawyer I still have to pay until October of 2005 regardless of the fact that she is now remarried. I think that Nevada law says otherwise...

I am uneasy about going back to court if there is any way that I could lose (time, money, stress, etc) so I was hoping to get some advice from someone who has an idea about how the court will view this situation.

Feel free to ask any questions you need to interpret the case.

Thank you.

NRS 125.150 Alimony and adjudication of property rights; award of attorney’s fee; subsequent modification by court.
5. In the event of the death of either party or the subsequent remarriage of the spouse to whom specified periodic payments were to be made, all the payments required by the decree must cease, unless it was otherwise ordered by the court.

Which is the same answer you got on the OTHER forum you posted this identical question to!!

There are at least 17 lawsuits (!!) pending in various courts, including the US Supreme Court, asking if Obama is a natural born citizen (as req'd by Art II, Sec 1 of the US Constitution).

Why has he spent over $1.35M in legal fees to block disclosure... rather than spend $12 for a VALID birth cert to settle the matter? The 'certificate' he has presented doesn't qualify to get a drivers license, wouldn't allow a child to qualify for Little League, or for a real citizen to get a US passport!

So you need to speak with and possibly hire an attorney and see if you can get the alimony terminated. But since the papers say a specific period, it may not work, hence my advice to speak with an attorney who can review your entire case and documents and see what is the best way to proceed.
