Alimony and Child Support

What is the name of your state? California

I am currently in the military (12 years) and have been married for 10. My wife and I have 4 children and are due to be divorced eventually after her filing. My wife has worked off and on during our marriage as a Massage Therapist, and by selling Mary Kay and Avon. She is also a licensed CNA. What dictates the amount of alimony and child support due to her? She has credentials that would land her a well paying job and the children would be covered medically under my Tricare plan. She would like to attend a school for a job that would offer her medical coverage when she stands on her own. What amount of alimony is really a necessity and for how long? Any advice would be greatly appreciated. Thank you to all.

There is no definite answer to this. Every judge is different, and each proof can play a part. I would say definitely child support and probably alimony for four years unless she remarries would be average.
