Alimony and Final Hearing

I live in NH. I had a temporary hearing where the judge awarded me more alimony than I was asking for. ( I am disabled) He filed a motion to reconsider..she denied this motion. I have a contempt and a final hearing this Monday. I am Pro Se as I have little money.
I have not received one dime since she ordered the alimony in Jan. of 2002. Has anyone heard of a temp. order being overturned. Yes instead of paying me he did obtain an attorney. I appreciate ANY and all feedback..if anyone has had a similar experience or has advice for me. Many thanks in advance...Hopefloats-s

I too am disabled...husband is retired military, in fine health. I cannot get military benefits since I am one year short of the "ten-year rule" or ANY military rule as we have been m. "only nine years". I am asking for Maintenance and wondering how you got MORE than you were asking for? I need to know soon...mediation is next. I became permanently D/A three years after we married. I am much younger than husband and this is making me feel like a "golddigger or such" which is NOT the case at all!! He is cheap...and ruthless. I have paid my way!! Dearly.

But--he is still quite sharp, I am stressed to the max. I am trying to find out just how much of his fixed INCOME I can get...and if I can force him to keep a life ins policy he already has, in force to ensure my future maintenance...he is 16 yrs older than I. I will likely never make it, but then that is not very optimistic! I am as I understand it, going to LOSE all my military medical benefits etc. I get only a rather small Soc Sec income, since I worked only a few yrs before marrying THIS time. (Good income but only few years employment.)

I can never work again, and am now petrified that he will not be made to pay me "enough' to make it on. He is a master of deceit. Last year he was the most wonderul husband in the world--------till he decided he was getting old, wanted to "recapture his youth" -- and no longer wanted to be responsible for a disabled wife. Became terribly abusive...I could and would not take it. I filed for divorce and had him removed from the house. Now he is doing everything in retaliation...there's more but ... Anyone with any advice?? I keep writing, hoping someone will have some tidbit, wherein my disability will help me since I can't touch his military. Thanks and good luck!!

I think you will get alimony if you ask for it, but I understand you need to ask for it in your proposed orders, at the temporary hearing. I have also asked that he keep a life insurance policy with me as beneficiary to insure that I am not left without anything in the event of his death. I also made no claims to his house but did ask the court for a charge against the estate in the event of his death for the same reasons. I know they can be sly and crafty, but I do think that justice will prevail. Just be honest and what I did was seek legal counsel, but went Pro Se as I had NO extra money. Not familar with aspects of "ten year " rule, but if you are truly disabled you should`nt have a problem getting spousal support. How much,how long is a another question not always readily answered, good luck. And for the woman who appeared pro se on the contempt charge for non payment, for future reference you are aware on this action your legal fees, if any can be asked to be paid by the defendent.
