Alimony in NY

What is the name of your state? NY

Married 8 years. Abusive relationship. Curious what alimony/support he would be required to pay if any. Stay at home mom, one child.

Edit: If anyone with a better attitude or better informed would please like to help, I'd greatly appreciate it. The below person is now on my Ignore List. Financially he makes in the area of $50,000 not including his side biz which I'm not sure. I'm just asking for another opinion if someone has it. Thank you.

My response:

Most likely, nothing. Additionally, how could we possibly answer your question when you have given us NOTHING in the way of background information or financial information?

But, it's probably nothing anyway because you weren't married long enough.

I didn't realize. It's my first time posting, no need to be rude to me about it. I did a minor consultation with a local lawyer who said I'd be entitled but wanted another opinion. Obviously this isn't a good place to get it. Really sad when someone is nervous about things as it is to get such a reply. I'll go for help elsewhere.

Alimony - probably none to minimal until you get on your feet.

Child support - 17% combined income, proportionally split.

Thank you. He quoted 17% as well as an additional 12% or so. I appreciate the second opinion.

I couldn't resist. You were incorrect in your advice. Perhaps you should stick to advising over CA law and not try to venture into NY law. Thankfully I went to see a real lawyer. He advised me of what I am truly entitled to.

Thin skinned? I'm far from thin skinned. I'm quite tough but your answer appalled me out of nowhere.

I'm thinking you need some 1. anger management or 2. people skills or 3. both. I don't think you being abrasive and abusive vebally to people on this board is morally right acceptable.

Thanks for the useless advice. *flushes it*

My response:

Mark my words, though. By the time your divorce is all over, you'll get nothing in the way of Alimony.

I just wanted to wish you well and hope that you find the answers you are looking for. Divorce is not an easy process, but you sound strong and I'm sure you will be fine...
