What is the name of your state? NY

I am asking this for a family friend. Would NY courts accept for collection an alimony court order issued by another country? Would they proceed with collection process or would the person suing for alimony have to initiate collection on her own?
A woman granted alimony is a citizen of another country and never been to the US, the man, is a citizen of that country and a legal permanent resident here.
Thanks

It depends on if the Issuing country is a signatory to the United Nations Treaty on Families or the Hague convention on Family issues.

The easier takt would be for the holder of the court order to file for Domestication in a New York court.

I believe that the country they are from (Poland) is a party to both the UN treaty and the Haque convention.

The man has been told that the New York courts are very unlikely to accept a court order for alimony unless it is filed together with an order for child support.
