alimony pay off

What is the name of your state? Michigan
I have been paying alimony for 3.5 out of 5 yrs.
I have just recently lost my job, due to job elimination, in which the amount was based.
If both parties agree to an amount. How does one go about getting me free from responsipilty ? I am willing to make good, just need to know how.

If you got fired for cause, dont expect the ex wifey and her lawyer to be kind to you...

But if it was a simple layoff, then you could negotiate a longer term to pay it off.
