alimony payments

I was granted 3yrs. of alimony payments. His wages were garnished, and now he quit his job (california) and I can't find any-one to help me get my awarded payments. I don't know where he is working, I think he's still here in California because he has a daughter here from a previous marriage. Please tell me what to do. I paid my lawyer $3,500 for the divorce, but now he says I can't afford to find my ex. I work, but the alimony was going to help me get back on my feet.

Unless you can FIND your ex, no one can do anything.

That is the first step.

To do that, you can turn into a detective yourself -- or you can hire one.

Good luck to you. Your situation is maddening, but it's not all that rare.

Try getting ahold of the district attorney in the county you got divorced in. They pursue child support, maybe alimony also?

At least worth a phone call, in my mind.

Thank you for your suggestion. Yes, I have called every-one that I could, DA, etc. No-one will help me other than a detective, and they want $300.00. They only get in involved when there are children.
We were both grand-parents when we married. So, there are no children between us. He has been seen around town, he works in construction, and I keep getting different "John" sitings but, when I call the various construction companies, they say he is not employed there. I think he may be working under the table to avoid my alimony. He is in contempt of court now, 4 months. This man makes alot of money and he'll do anything to get out of it. He even tried to get out of child support, that's what kind of man he is.
