Question

Alimony for real?

What is the name of your state? Maryland
When getting a divorce due to my spouse's cheating am I able to get alimony from him even though I make more than him?

Ummmm, SS is NOT a reward to women because their feelings are hurt.

That's NOT it's function!

For future, keep all of your posts in 1 thread.

Why are you posting this mess on someone else's thread? It has no relevance.

However, some states will mandate alimony to a dependent spouse if the supporting spouse was adulterous, and the dependent spouse was not. (And if the dependent spouse was adulterous, and the supporting spouse is not, alimony can be barred, depending on state.)

Whether it's worth going to court to try and collect it is another matter entirely. Is it really worth going to court for $50/mo of alimony?

In which case the SS is based upon DEPENDENCY - not being cheated on.
This poster MAKES MORE MONEY. So, as I stated, the logic of this poster is that they want SS because they were cheated on, and NOT dependent.
